In many respects, education has been hailed as the best solution to reduce poverty and ensure economic growth and prosperity in South Africa. The challenges faced by the South African education system is well-documented and regularly reads as depressing headlines in the media. In September 2017, the World Bank cut its forecast for South Africa’s economic growth, saying that the country’s low levels of innovation is one of the factors holding back growth. However, despite these challenges South Africa is also a country of innovation and hope.
